Week 22a = James Jowers, mild mannered reporter…

“Look!  Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!

Yes, it’s Superman!  Strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men.  Superman, who can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in his bare hands!  And who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way!”

Superman was the best in the late 50’s.  These are the re-runs that I grew up watching until the 1978 Superman the Movie!  To me the OG Superman was the post war era bad-ass that a super man was supposed to be.

In early episodes George Reeves played a stern Superman that told criminals he would break every bone in their body if they didn’t cooperate.   When Kellogg’s, the cereal company, endorsed the show they ask for the studio to tone it down.

That era’s Clark Kent was the no-non-sense problem solver and super sleuth taking care of business.  Superman came in at the end to clean things up.

Charles Haanel’s The Master Key System chapter 20:19 reads:  … Power implies service; inspiration implies power; to understand and apply the method of inspiration is to become a superman.  Written in 1917.

This chapter refers to InSpiration, being In Spirit.  In connection with Spirit, Higher Power, God, Universal Omnipotence…or however you want to identify with it.

Being In Spirit is particularly being in contact and communion with Higher Mind.  This is done most powerfully in SILENCE.

All great and successful people speak of having a daily time of solitude and hence meditation.

Just like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.

I have heard it said that Praying is talking to heaven.

And… Meditation is listening….

In the SILENCE you will find the answers to all the questions you have never even thought of asking.

SIT and listen…

The next mission, ‘should you choose to accept it’…… is to remove all outside stimulus, no TV, no PHONES, no COMPUTERS, no reading, no writing, no arithmetic!!    As well as generated stimulus to, so no speaking either.

To be totally in SILENCE.  Be the monk, be the Hermit.

Do this for as long as possible.  24 hours, 2 days, 3 days, a week, 10 days.  The longer the better.   You will be amazed.

Peace Be The Journey

Another thoughtful and inspiring post! Love the view that meditation is listening – and listening implies acceptance – first part of the Law of Least Effort!
